The Güntner Group is expanding: Due to the constantly high workload at the Tata plant in Hungary and the fact that Güntner intends to create further market potential specifically in the range of commercial refrigeration, it was the next logical step to establish another manufacturing facility.

Robert Gerle, Managing Director at Güntner, states: "The new Sibiu/Hermannstadt plant in Romania, specifically designed for manufacturing commercial units, allows us not only to satisfy the steadily increasing demand for energy-efficient and low-noise units but also to achieve the required capacities for the production of industrial units at the Tata plant in Hungary."

State-of-the-art technology, high degree of automation

A covered area of 18,000 m2 in total ensures sufficient production capacities also at the new location in Sibiu/Hermannstadt. The high quality and efficiency requirements can be met using state-of-the-art production lines and applying a high degree of automation. The test production will start in September already; following a successful test stage, the relocation of production for commercial units from Tata to Sibiu/Hermannstadt will take place in spring 2016.

Focus on the long term situation including expansion capacities

The Manufacturing Department completed so far comprises three assembly lines for manufacturing commercial units, a powder coating installation and a separate Quality Assurance Department. The capacity utilisation is to be increased step by step; this increase in production goes hand in hand with a further manufacturing relief at the Tata site and with an adjustment to rising sales figures in the Group. The Tata site will focus on manufacturing industrial units in the future. Considering current trends, the area in Sibiu with its 40,000 m2 is designed in such a way that the plant still has capacities for expansion. This means everything is ready for further positive development.

Favourable strategic location and good infrastructure

Sibiu/Hermannstadt is one of the most important economic centres of the country and, accordingly, offers a good infrastructure. The new plant is located in the vicinity of the Sibiu International Airport providing excellent connections to Munich, Vienna and other European destinations.
