The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and especially the rapid spread of the Omikron variant also have an impact on EuroCIS 2022, which will now be postponed to May 31 to June 02, 2022. Messe Düsseldorf has decided on this new date in close consultation with the exhibiting companies and participating partners due to the dynamic infection situation and the continued uncertainty regarding travel and quarantine requirements in the individual European countries. EuroCIS, The Leading Trade Fair for Retail Technology, was originally scheduled for February 15-17.

"Retailers are urgently waiting for EuroCIS, because nowhere are innovation cycles as short as in retail technology, and EuroCIS is the industry's most important innovation and business platform," emphasizes Erhard Wienkamp, Managing Director of Messe Düsseldorf. " We want to give all those involved in the retail industry, which has been particularly affected by the pandemic, the ability to reliably plan. For this reason, we have decided to postpone the event. We expect a strong EuroCIS in early summer with a high level of international participation, in an overall situation that is no longer so massively dominated by Covid-19", Wienkamp explains.

The EHI Retail Institute is also in favor of postponing the show by three months. "From the many imponderables that are still in the air right now in connection with Covid-19, there is a high risk for exhibitors in terms of the necessary trade show planning, the associated investments and the achievement of their trade show goals. Therefore, we welcome a date shift to the end of May, with the aim of being able to do justice to the "EuroCIS brand" again then. This is entirely in the interests of exhibitors and trade fair visitors," says Michael Gerling, Managing Director of the EHI Retail Institute, Cologne.

Elke Moebius, Project Director EuroCIS, expresses her gratitude for the good cooperation with all partners and the extraordinary loyalty of the exhibitors with regard to EuroCIS: "We are glad that we were able to agree on the new date in close consultation with the EHI, major exhibitors as well as many other partners. The cohesion of the EuroCIS community in these grueling times is tremendous and forms an excellent basis for a successful event from May 31 to June 02 this year."
