Digital Signage Expo: new video extender from Black Box does not require power supply
At this year’s Digital Signage Expo (June 15 to June 17 in Essen), Black Box, the IT and telecommunications specialist, introduces its latest DS extender model, the Wizard Multimedia Extender LP. Eliminating the need for a power supply, the receiver unit receives its power via the Cat cable, the transmitter via the USB interface of the CPU. Without the need for power outlets near its installation site, the device is thus especially flexible to use. With its minimal installation requirements, the point to point extender is therefore ideal for small businesses and public buildings.
The extender transmits video information at a resolution of 1360 x 768 without loss over a distance of 150 meters. As a dongle, the device is extremely compact, allowing it to be used in places where little space is available. “We notice an increasing demand for digital signage solutions even from smaller retail outlets. Our Wizard Multimedia Extender LP addresses exactly this market“, Axel Bürger, Managing Director of Black Box Deutschland GmbH, explains. “Both installation and spatial requirements are minimal, allowing this segment to also benefit from the positive marketing effects of digital advertising and information systems.“
