The Bochum store of the Hagen fashion retailer SinnLeffers is the first to break new ground, technologically-speaking. The new version 3 of the cash register system act'o-cash must now stand the test of going live. New hardware has already been purchased for the software solution. IBM, act'o-soft's partner, delivered the devices. All 22 SinnLeffers stores are set to adopt the new system till October 2013.

Five cash registers and a PC for back office analysis were installed and connected to the network. The systems are connected to the headquarters and to the coupon provider Paycom. After a brief introduction, staff is able to operate the cash registers. The period of induction, which is brief as it is, was further shortened due to the cashiers having prior knowledge of the system; SinnLeffers has been using old versions of act'o-cash for years. Initial feedback of the cashiers was therefore as follows: "The women felt right at home", according to Mario Berger, software trainer at act' o-soft.

A number of minor refinements managed to sharp the profile of the user interface without ignoring the basic premise. Intuition, simplicity and speed were and continue to be the benchmarks for the act'o-soft developer. The main benefit to SinnLeffers' workflows is in particular: sales promotions can be planned and automated using act'o-cash3. For example, the currently valid promotion "20 percent extra discount off all reduced products" is managed by fully automated means. Up to now a discount had to be manually applied by the staff. This procedure was prone to errors and was time-consuming. Such promotions can now be administered in act'o-cash3 hourly.

act'o-cash3 has been highly modularised in the program code. On the one hand, new functions and modules can thereby be migrated more quickly in the customer's live systems. On the other hand, the time for so-called deployment is significantly reduced. The cash register solution is implemented for the customer at a rate that is 25% faster than the original. A lot of importance is attached to this speed, particularly by large retailers. The return on investment of the solution is therefore much more tangible.
