Organized by bayern design, the Forum for Design Knowledge and a speech series at the PackBox will complement the FachPack 2015 trade fair taking place from September 29 to October 1 on the Nuremberg fairgrounds.
Nuremberg, Germany. At bayern design’s stand 5-111 in Hall 5 at FachPack 2015, the Forum for Design Knowledge will host a showcase of selected products, current trends and future-oriented examples of intelligent solutions for package design following the claim Ingenious design, Green packaging. Smart materials, creative image campaigns, innovative packaging, nice labeling – trade visitors and all other friends of good design will be shown field-tested examples to provide them with insight into the ways companies use design to create added value and, thus, competitive advantages. bayern design has developed this special exhibition to encourage visitors to reinterpret packaging as a key distinguishing factor.
The special exhibition will be based on the following questions: How can companies deploy professional design as a key method by which to achieve success in the market? How does well-designed packaging convey a company’s values and support its branding process? What added value does packaging offer for the user?
To provide answers to these and other questions, bayern design will present a number of exhibits at its stand at FachPack 2015 including mapbags from the Austrian label mapbagrag. These 100 per cent recyclable bags are made of water- and tear-resistant paper to protect personal electronic valuables against everyday wear and they require less energy to produce than regular paper.
Also, labels created by Clormann Design for Hallingers Schokoladen Manufaktur can turn simple plastic bags into individually branded sales packages. These high quality asymmetrically cut labels which are affixed to the front of the bags of sweets have been produced using hot foil and blind embossing to emphasize the premium approach of the Hallingers brand and its products.
In contrast, PAPACKS SHOWBOX made by PAPACKS Sales is more than just packaging; it also serves as a platform on which to present shoes in retail stores and it ensures the brand’s continuing presence in the consumer’s home. The boxes are an attractive way to present the product in the store, can be stacked easily and safely, and can be reused by consumers for storing, constructing or playing.
To explore the topic further, bayern design has invited packaging experts and designers to speak at the PackBox, the trade fair’s forum, on September 29. Starting at 3:00 p.m., Prof. Holger Felten of rose pistola will discuss the absurd-affectionate corporate design of Café Luitpold in Munich; Peter Désilets of pacoon AG will show how functional microwave packaging can be used to open new food markets; materials expert Aart van Bezooyen of Material Stories will give an introduction to the world of smart packaging and labels; and Marc M. Clormann of Clormann Design will illustrate how materials, color systems, typography and finishing can help in the design of functional and aesthetically pleasing packaging that can be deployed as a successful brand ambassador.
