Jonathan Matchett has been promoted to UK Managing Director of wnDirect. Previously Operations Director Jonathan has been tasked with steering the UK business to its next level of development.
Jonathan has over two decades of experience working for major retail brands such as Marks & Spencer where he was responsible for transforming their click and collect solution.
Jonathan joined wnDirect six months after its launch. The start-up business with big aspirations has come a long way since then but still maintains the entrepreneurial approach that has enabled it to enjoy significant levels of success in a relatively short period of time. Winner of the New Business of the Year at the New Business Awards 2013 and attracting investment from GeoPost wnDirect is flying the red, white and blue and shows no sign of resting on its laurels as it continues to focus on overcoming the pain points felt by retailers who are expanding internationally.
So what makes the British business different?
Jonathan said: “Other providers have made logistics their business whereas we have made ‘international’ our business. We have carved a relatively unique position in the market because of the breadth of services we offer and the support we provide. Our consultancy and added-value services are core to our offering.”
Jonathan’s experience of and insight into the retail world and how this can be used to transform international delivery solutions is well documented as he has taken the platform at many industry conferences. This year alone Jonathan has presented at Internet Retailing Expo 2015, MetaPack Delivery Conference 2015, Home Delivery World Atlanta 2015 and Digital Boardrooms 2015.
So what next for the British success story?
Jonathan concludes: “Over the past couple of years wnDirect has evolved into a really exciting business. It has maintained the excitement and buzz that comes with an entrepreneurial business but has also developed the scale that a business of substantial size affords, giving us financial stability and scale. Our growing customer portfolio along with the recent investment from GeoPost are all stamps of endorsement. Whilst we have always created excitement in the market, retailers are now convinced that we are robust enough to support all of their international needs. So, to a certain extent it is more of the same; combined with some really exciting innovation launches that will be further game changers.”
