Global trends of retail cash management
New report by Planet Retail is released
Planet Retail states in their new report that the need for retailers to automate their cash handling is big and will continue to be so for many years to come. Cash payments will remain popular with customers and manual cash handling creates a high workload as well as a security risk for the staff.
One of the report’s key findings state that: “Automation technologies can be instrumental in reducing if not eliminating these risks, help to improve the shopping experience for customers as well as job satisfaction for store employees, making store processes more efficient.”
For the point of sale the report states that 30-90 minutes of labour costs per day and checkout can be saved by automating the process. Two benefits for the staff is that they require less training and that they can focus on serving customers instead of handling cash. By enabling faster till openings the retailers can also adapt to customer peaks with higher flexibility. Automating the cash process in the cash office will also make the handling much more effective.
CashGuard´s CEO Roine Gabrielsson welcomes the report “It is interesting to read yet another external report on our business and I hope it can open the eyes of more retailers on what cash management will do for their business”
