The Forum of international Retail Association Executives (FIRAE) will join the C Star in Shanghai for its annual mid year meeting 2015. The annual meeting will be in the afternoon of May 14th.

The FIRAE has 41 member associations from 24 countries all over the world. The members share their knowledge on the development in the retail industry worldwide.

Exchange of knowledge on the retail industry

FIRAE membership is open worldwide to all national retail associations that primarily represent members in the grocery, pharmacy and general merchandise retail sectors. FIRAE is an international platform to discuss trends and developments in the international retail industry. The members of FIRAE share their views on important retail topics like payment issues, sustainability or international free trade.

The FIRAE Elected Leadership (Sept. 1, 2013 – Aug. 31, 2015) consists of FIRAE Treasurer Mr. Michael Gerling (Managing Director, EHI Retail Institute in Köln/Cologne, Germany) on his 2nd mandate period, FIRAE Vice Chairman Mr. Rogelio Rodriguez (Vice President, Development, ANTAD in Mexico City) on his 1st mandate period and FIRAE Chairman Mr. Thomas Eulau (Director, Head, Strategic Networks, Swedish Trade Federation in Stockholm, Sweden) on his 2nd mandate period.

FIRAE Annual Meetings (AM) and Mid-Year Meetings (MYM)

FIRAE AM’s always take place one day before the excellent NRF BIG SHOW – the NRF Convention and EXPO – in New York in January. NRF provide each member association of FIRAE with one complimentary full registration for the NRF BIG SHOW. The AM16 will take place in New York on January 16, 2016, one day before the “NRF 105th Convention & EXPO” (Jan. 17 – 20).

Since 2012 FIRAE has been able to organize MYM’s in one of the countries that are represented by an association in FIRAE. The MYM12 took place in Barcelona (in conjunction with the 2012 Global E-Commerce Summit), the MYM13 took place in Istanbul (in conjunction with the APRCE 2013) and the MYM14 took place in Paris (in conjunction with the World Retail Congress 2014).

First meeting in China during C-star 2015

FIRAE meetings are held twice each year, once in January in New York and again in the 2nd or 3rd quarter of the year in a member host country. During C-Star the FIRAE will meet in China for the first time. Each FIRAE member association will be granted one complimentary registrations for the fair.

"The Chinese market is so important for the international retail industry and the C-Star is a new and very promising trade show. This is an ideal place for a meeting of the FIRAE", says Michael Gerling, CEO of the EHI Retail Institute and Treasurer of FIRAE.
