Axis extends its physical access control products to Europe
Access control products are a complement to its portfolio of network video products
Axis, the world leader in network video, today extends its AXIS A1001 Network Door Controller offering to Europe, following a successful launch in the US last year. The value of the global physical access control market is about USD 3 billion (2012) and will increase to approximately USD 4.2 billion by 2017, which represents an annual growth of 7 percent, according to market research firm IHS.
“This is a natural complement as many partners has experience of access control and would like to cooperate with us. The launch in the US was well-received and we have been getting positive feedback from both our partners and end users. We expect to see similar success of this new addition in the European markets,” said Bodil Sonesson, Vice President, Global Sales, Axis Communications.
AXIS A1001 Network Door Controller is the first non-proprietary and open IP-based access controller on the market. It is a platform for two different solutions. AXIS Entry Manager (AXIS A1001 with built-in software) is a ready-made solution for small- to mid-sized businesses - such as offices, industries and retail stores - with typically 10 doors and basic access control requirements.
For larger enterprise systems, AXIS A1001’s open application programming interface enables Axis’ Application Development Partners (ADP) to meet specific customer requirements. At present, 25 Axis ADP partners offer solutions, which include video integration and advanced access control functionality.
“Physical security systems start to behave more similar to IT systems, where non-proprietary hardware and open standards have already been a logical concept for many years. The new AXIS A1001 Network Door Controller perfectly fits within this trend. You now have full access to the powerful AEOS Security Management Software. These developments are possible as the two companies build their solutions on the same philosophy; both Axis and Nedap develop open systems and use standards that are already available in the market. That is why the roadmaps of Nedap and Axis align,” said Arjan Bouter, Sales Director Nedap Security Management.
“It’s always a pleasure to work with Axis. Their open approach towards today’s market is what our company stands for as well. The Axis network video equipment is used with many of Entelec’s customers during which we can always count on Axis’ stable communication protocols and their professional technical support team. They are truly a world player in the video surveillance industry,” said Miet Loix, CEO, Entelec Control Systems.
AXIS A1001 Network Door Controller is planned to be available in Europe in November, 2014 through Axis’ distribution channels.
