Bizerba presents its RetailApp concept, with which users can flexibly expand the range of functions of their weighing systems. Market and customer requirements can be implemented as separate applications, which enables the scales to be adapted to individual needs.

The applications are diverse: for example, the management of information on origin of goods or the administration of orders can be implemented directly on the scales as a RetailApp. Other scenarios include incorporating promotional campaigns into the store concept or carrying out timed messages and campaigns.

RetailApps work alongside the Bizerba standard software RetailPowerScale and enable the range of operations of the scales to be expanded throughout their entire lifecycle. Retailers are therefore in a position to react quickly to the latest developments on the market.

Using the RetailApp concept it is possible to expand the functions of scales individually and adapt them to specific requirements. Current and recurring software requirements, for example relating to allergen labelling, can be implemented as a RetailApp. Users benefit from a constantly increasing pool of RetailApps, which cover many customer requirements.

"With our concept we offer customers the opportunity to apply new functionalities to their scales, quickly and easily," explains Johannes Hübel, Director Sales Retail at Bizerba. "We develop new RetailApps independently of the status of the PowerScale program, which means the applications can be put into operation at any time."

The separate, self-contained solutions are ready for use immediately, run in the environment of the standard software RetailPowerScale, can be configured and can be adapted to suit different situations.

RetailApps provide retail and trade companies with the opportunity to create an impressive shopping experience and in doing so to differentiate themselves from the competition. For example, solutions can be installed which allow the customer to be provided with better advice in terms of food intolerances; another RetailApp helps with the easy management of product ranges on the scale. Counter signs or features to increase impact and customer interest can be adapted to specific ideas and the interface can be individually configured.

"With our RetailApps the devices adapt to the customer and not the other way round," says Hübel. "Retailers that gradually increase the functionality of their weighing system using RetailApps can equip themselves for the requirements of the future."
