Groupon announced the launch of Freebies on iOS devices, creating the most widely distributed mobile coupon destination in the United States. With the addition of Freebies, iPhone and iPad users now have even more ways to save money while shopping through Groupon - whether it’s online, in a mobile app or inside their favorite stores.
“And, with more than 80 million downloads globally, we’re giving brands an enormous platform to drive customers to their mobile app, online store or physical location.” Launched in late 2013, Groupon’s Freebies now includes more than 30,000 digital coupons, promotion codes, sales, giveaways and samples redeemable online or in-store via mobile devices from more than 6,000 leading national brands, spanning more than 245,000 physical locations.
“By adding Freebies to our popular mobile app, we’re giving shoppers more ways to save money on the go without having to clip any coupons,” said Sean Smyth, VP/GM, Freebies. “And, with more than 80 million downloads globally, we’re giving brands an enormous platform to drive customers to their mobile app, online store or physical location.”
To help celebrate the launch of Freebies on iOS devices, Groupon is featuring digital coupons for the following household names:
- Best Buy - 20% off regular-priced small appliances
- Aeropostale - 20% off any in-store purchase
- Kohl’s - $10 off select Father’s Day gifts of $30 or more
- Banana Republic Factory Store - additional 15% off any purchase
- Uber - $25 off first ride for new customers (national exclusive)
The Freebies mobile platform has built-in iMessage/SMS, Facebook and Twitter integration to enable consumers to easily share the best deals from their favorite brands with family and friends. Freebies is initially available in the United States, with plans to expand to international markets by the end of 2014. The category will expand to Android devices and location-based alerts later this summer.
