Whether as a digital direction sign or an interactive sales assistant: digital signage is dynamic communication with an immense potential for growth. viscom, the International Trade Fair for Visual Communication realised this at a very early stage and has been covering this exciting topic since 2007. “We developed the Digital Signage World as a new brand identity under the viscom umbrella brand“, explains trade fair director Petra Lassahn. It includes the fair, workshops during the fair, a series of seminars held throughout the year and the Digital Signage Best Practice Award.
A core element of the Digital Signage World are the Digital Signage Days. In a variety of workshops and presentations, visitors to the fair can gain a comprehensive view of the digital signage market. In this context Petra Lassahn emphasises: “The focus in all events is on practical information that can be implemented straight away.“ The concept is successful. one “Day“ in 2007 grew into “Days“ in 2008. To meet the keen demand and the great need for know-how the lecture programme was doubled. At viscom 2009, held from 1 to 3 October, this course will be continued.
Beginners, technicians and users in focus
A novelty is the 90-minute Digital Signage Starter Workshop held on both days. Based on the experience gained during the successful viscom digital signage seminars, this fair will be the first to provide a quick, competent introduction to the subject – free of advertising or marketing hype. Participation is free, but registration by 25 September is required which can be made quite simply by an e-mail to digital-signage@viscom-messe.com. For technicians there will be a special technicians’ section on both days, dealing with, among others, the following topics: signal distribution, screen technologies, installation, frames and touch technologies. Special examples of applications will also be on display on both days, when the finalists of the Digital Signage Best Practice Awards from the five categories Retail, Information, Routing, Interactive and Content are presented. No other event offers such a large number of implemented projects on display.
