New POS Terminal is already RoHS compliant – saving money
TOSHIBA TEC Europe, a leading retail and industrial automation solutions provider, today announced the new stylish and rugged ST-71 dual-screen POS terminal for the Hospitality and Specialty markets.

An Indirect Channel Offering
The TOSHIBA TEC ST-71 is based on a reliable, stable technology platform packed in a cool, all-black design. The new TOSHIBA-black POS terminal is aimed at Hospitality outlets as well as Non-Food specialty businesses. The ST-71 is specifically designed to suit Europe’s VAR and dealer channels as an easy-to-configure POS solution for a broad number of vertical applications. The ST-71 is compatible with current Microsoft Windows2000, XP and certified Linux operating systems.
The TOSHIBA TEC ST-71 POS terminal is part of the new 7series product line up distributed through the new TOSHIBA TEC Channel Connection Program.

Speed and Performance
The POS terminal has a fast Intel® 2GHz Celeron® processor and is equipped with advanced networking with serial and parallel ports as well as Powered USB 2.0 ports. Memory comes in at 256 MB standard DDR, and can go up to 2GB, reducing paging. The TOSHIBA TEC ST-71 has a Front Side Bus on board, accelerating response time to improve customer throughput and minimise queues.

Flexible Design
The ST-71 POS terminal has two available screen options, the 12” or 15” super-bright TFT. The 15” TFT screen is designed to offer the POS operator a large display helping to reduce operator errors and incorporate more fast keys on the screen.
An optional 12” or 15” TFT screen is fitted with a tilting mechanism and can be used to display special promotions and advertising material.
The customer however retains total freedom in his choice of the operator and the customer displays – another unique design feature from TOSHIBA TEC.
Next to the main screen is a Magnetic Stripe Reader (MSR) for both cashier log on and clients’ electronic card payments. This option can be mounted either left or right of the screen to optimise counter space.

Waterproof
Waterproof, and tested against harmful substances such as oil, acids and dangerous fluids, the ST-71 is able to withstand harsh hospitality and other extreme operational environments.

Three easy steps
The slide out module concept enables users to exchange key components in three easy steps, minimising downtime and optimising productivity.

RoHS Compliant !
In order to comply with the compulsory EU Directive on RoHS (Restrictions on Hazardous Substances) which will come into force on July 1, 2006, the new TOSHIBA TEC ST-71 has been designed without the use of hazardous substances and can be safely used without extra cost.
