Almex, the leading supplier of electronic ticketing equipment and mobile solutions for bus and rail operators, has appointed Peter Aylward as General Manager for Great Britain. With Aylward at the helm, Almex is now looking to expand its leading position in ticketing systems for public transport in the United Kingdom by placing a stronger focus on the delivery of complete IT systems.
Based in Swindon, Almex - a member of the German IT and engineering group Hoeft & Wessel - is an ITSO certified supplier. The company, which was founded in 1946, is well established in the industry and already has substantial market share in the UK public transport sector.
Aylward (47), who reports directly to the Management Board of Hoeft & Wessel, has over 25 years’ IT-related experience in senior management positions. He comes to Almex from his position of General Manager of RedDot Solutions, a leading supplier of Enterprise Content Management software.
At the offices in Swindon, west of London, and Glasgow, Scotland, he is in charge of around 20 IT and hardware specialists in the field of ticketing. One of the major current projects Aylward leads is the concluding of the delivery and installation of a complete eTicketing solution for about 60 bus corporations in Scotland. To date, Almex has equipped nearly half of all buses in Scotland with new onboard units.
