Permaplay Tablets - upgrading the point of sale
Interface between online and POS
For three out of four customers, according to a study by the trade association HDE “Trends in Trade,” it is important in the future to be able to go shopping in the store. On the other hand, online trading is growing significantly – although at rather different rates in different lines of business. The ideal solution: To combine both and increase the attractiveness of the POS.
“Providing added value to the local retail business is one of the major trade trends in 2017,” according to Werner Vogt, managing director of Permaplay Media Solutions. “Primarily, we have to focus on improving customer support and service quality. In this way, the retailer is able to offer customers not only detailed information, but also a strong visual experience.“ Currently, various Permaplay partners are working with a large number of tablets at the POS/POI.
Permaplay offers different high-quality and robust tablet models from 10” to 32”, all developed by Permaplay for use at the POS and produced by renowned manufacturers in the Far East. All units are equipped with features such as auto start and password protection. An additional application, specially developed for the POS, allows access to previously selected HTML pages, apps and also allows the use of the media player. A USB update is possible via the Android APK Installer.
In addition, these devices come with a pre-installed software to allow content updates over the Internet. This feature simply has to be enabled. W-LAN access is required and a fee for cloud connection is due.
Permaplay has implemented this new POS application using tablets with 21.5” screens in hundreds of DIY stores.
“Based on our experience to date and the results of relevant studies, we are very confident that tablets will bring a whole new quality standard in customer consultation and service to the POS.” Werner Vogt is sure that “this motivates the seller, extends the retailer’s range of products and promotes sales overall.”
