More space to move and an optimised overview at the checkout: the Virtual Checkout Display VCODisp.

The Virtual Checkout Display VCODisp on DIVA checkout scales and visual sales promotion plus Fresh Goods Database as sales support at the service counter are at the centre of the METTLER TOLEDO presentation at the Wincor World 2010 (26 to 28 January 2010, Paderborn).

A crowd at the checkout, not enough space for the shopping? VCODisp puts an end to that! With the VCODisp (Virtual Checkout Display), METTLER TOLEDO puts article and weighing information such as article text, net weight, tare, as well as kilo-price and end-price of the weighed goods directly onto the supermarket checkout employee’s cash register monitor. VCODisp thus makes a separate scales display at the checkout unnecessary. Staff and customers therefore benefit from more space on the checkout band – especially important for speeding up customer flow during peak times.

VCODisp is certified for the whole of Europe and is available as both Windows and Linux-based software for all METTLER TOLEDO DIVA scanner scales. The layout of the display, position, type size and colour can be freely defined within the legal regulations, so that the Virtual Checkout Display can easily be adapted to the given design requirements. Or the flexibility is exploited to the advantage of the customer. Uwe Kriese, head of direct sales Germany at METTLER TOLEDO: “Supermarkets that primarily serve elderly customers can, for example, improve the legibility with slightly bigger lettering.”

VCODisp is also the first choice for businesses that require separate customer monitors at the checkout to display the weighing information. “In that case, the Virtual Checkout Display transmits the data from the DIVA scanner scales to the separate display instead of the checkout monitor” says Uwe Kriese.

VCODisp is tried and tested. METTLER TOLEDO has thus already equipped more than 6,000 Wincor Nixdorf checkout systems with VCODisp. The VCODisp customers include eg REWE.

Visual sales support plus Fresh Goods Database
The presentation of the METTLER TOLEDO UC3-Line touch screen range of scales at the Wincor World focuses directly on visual sales promotion at the service counter. “In Paderborn, we are demonstrating how the display on the customer side of the UC3-Line scales can be cleverly used for sales support – displaying text and images as well as animations”, Uwe Kriese promises. “Our visitors will experience live, how visual sales support on the customer display can emotionally charge the shopping experience and, in this way, create additional purchasing impulses”, Uwe Kriese adds.

Sales success is, however, not only the result of good advertising at the point of sale, but also the result of competent customer service. Whether gluten-free sausage or the lactose content: it is not always easy to give the right answer to such difficult consumer questions. Who seriously expects every member of the sales team to have the answers at their finger-tips? “We do!” answers Uwe Kriese, and goes on to say why: “With the Fresh Goods Database, we are bringing this product information directly to the sales counter.” For this purpose, METTLER TOLEDO is currently working intensively on further extending the content of their Fresh Goods Database. The concept of the Fresh Goods Database makes it possible to save product information in the database as well as complementary details such as recipes and hints for preparation.

Manufacturers of fresh products, wholesalers and importers, who wish to save their product ranges in the Fresh Goods Database, can enter their content directly into the METTLER TOLEDO database via a secure Internet connection. At the Wincor World 2010, METTLER TOLEDO is presenting the current status of the solution.
