Issuing Payment Cards Instantly In-Branch
Highest level of security thanks to online-only personalization
BankDhofar, a leading bank in the Sultanate of Oman, has chosen the Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) instant issuance solution. Over a defined period of time, the Munich-based technology company will be enabling all branches of BankDhofar with its software for personalizing customer and payment cards.
Customers can collect their debit cards instantly at the time of account opening itself, and start using them immediately. G&D is also supplying the bank with EMV cards and will offer all-round support for the instant issuance service.
G&D’s Convego System Instant Issuance provides BankDhofar with a specially tailored all-in-one instant issuance system for its debit card portfolio. The solution is characterized by outstanding user-friendliness and offers customers the highest level of security thanks to a wide range of encryption methods and online-only personalization.
Convego System Instant Issuance comprises a backend server component that is installed in the bank’s central data processing center and a client component that is installed in existing branch systems. Both components are tailored to BankDhofar’s specific requirements.
G&D also supplies predesigned EMV cards that can be personalized in-house and issued directly to the customer. Individually encrypted customer details are sent from the data processing center directly to the chip in the debit card, producing personalized cards that have all the required security features.
A welcome service aspect of Instant Issuance is that it allows customers to receive their card immediately, for instance on opening an account, and begin using it straight away. “This definitely represents added value for our customers, and enables us to reduce our costs. Customers having to come back to the branch for a second time to collect their debit cards will become a thing of the past, and by providing technologically driven value-added services we can increase overall efficiency in our branches,” says Mr. Abdul Hakeem Al Ojaili, General Manager – Corporate Services, BankDhofar.
In addition to its instant issuance solution, G&D will provide BankDhofar with all-round support for the new service. This includes supporting the bank in creating card profiles and processing customer details, as well as the personalization process itself. “We have enjoyed a close working relationship with BankDhofar for many years now and we understand their requirements.
