Good choice: Hoeft & Wessel wins follow-up order from tegut…
Supply of mobile terminals and management software
A tried-and-tested collaboration is set to continue: the grocery retailer tegut… has ordered the latest skeye.allegro LS handhelds as part of a follow-up order placed. Hoeft & Wessel will be delivering the mobile terminals starting next year, in an effort to support tegut… in their continued expansion drive. For the 400 new handhelds and the roughly 1,500 units of the predecessor type already deployed in its stores, tegut… will also be opting for a software solution from Hoeft & Wessel AG, the skeye.com management system. skeye.com handles the central management, administration and configuration for all the mobile terminals, greatly reducing the expenditure involved in deploying the devices.
tegut… is a regional commercial retail enterprise located in central Germany.
The company´s head office is in Fulda, in the eastern part of the German federal state of Hesse. tegut… became known primarily thanks to its pioneering effort in promoting organic foods, which the company has been selling in its shops with steadily growing success since the beginning of the 1980s. Today, around 6,300 employees work in more than 300 supermarkets in Hesse, northern Bavaria, southern Lower Saxony, Thuringia and Mainz (Rhineland-Palatinate), in the production facilities of herzberger bäckerei and kff - kurhessische fleischwaren GmbH fulda, as well as in other tegut… enterprises. In the year 2010, the family company generated EUR 1.15 billion in sales. For the mobile terminals used in merchandise management, tegut… has been relying on solutions from Hoeft & Wessel since as far back as the 1990s.
Benjamin Beinroth, Head of IT at tegut…, is impressed with the further technical development of the skeye.allegro. "The speed and the integrative capabilities of the handheld deliver further support to our strategic plan for mobile branch merchandise management on the hardware side. Plus, the new unit allows us to use the previous generation devices in parallel, which means it is not necessary to completely re-equip our supermarkets. In the meantime, the predecessor models from Hoeft & Wessel are also being upgraded and fitted with additional memory so that they can handle the ever-increasing complexity of software processes.
This is the third time already that the company has opted for Hoeft & Wessel solutions. "The follow-up order once again confirms the quality of our products and our leading role in mobile data capture in the German retail market," says a delighted Andreas Gimpel, Senior Key Account Manager, Skeye Enterprise Sales with Hoeft & Wessel. The mobile terminals of the Skeye brand have stood the test of time in the operations of tegut… very well, and once again they succeeded against some renowned competitors.
The latest generation of skeye.allegro terminals features a very powerful processor board and the highly successful display in landscape format. The latter allows users to absorb complex information much better and more quickly than the conventional portrait format. To handle the merchandise management at tegut…, the units loaded with the reliable Windows CE 6.0 operating system will run the GK StoreWeaver program; the device has already received the relevant certifications. Data transmission and the link to SAP will be via WLAN and Ethernet.
