Inspired by and in anticipation of the upcoming FIFA Euro 2012 soccer championship, Bosch Security Systems recently welcomed architects, consultants and specifiers from various European countries to the first International Consultants Day. Held at the famous Allianz Arena in Munich, the objective of the event was to provide all the guests with a unique platform to network while also learning about the latest regulations, standards and product developments.
As a special guest, none other than former star goalkeeper, Jean-Marie Pfaff joined the 80 participants. “A security system is like a soccer team”, he explains. “Back in my days as a goalkeeper I had to be able to fully rely on our defense. During a match it’s all about the interaction and coordination of the players – just like in a security system, where the real quality comes from the seamless interconnection of different technologies which all feature different ‘talents’ or qualities”.
Rules and strategy
During the first half of the event, Bosch experts updated the attendees on “Tactical Planning in Security” and on the latest EN 54 news. They also demonstrated how to practically apply regulations to real-life requirements even if the circumstances might be complex. Furthermore, all participants discussed the importance of global standardizations and the latest developments in ONVIF, the open industry forum for the implementation of a global standard for the interface of IP-based physical security products.
Lining-up your team
Later on, after a short break and an exclusive stadium tour with Jean-Marie Pfaff, the attendees gained an impression of the Allianz Arena’s remarkable sound system and its loudspeakers from Electro-Voice during a live sound check. Subsequently to this impressive demonstration, Bosch introduced its latest Planning Software. “The Planning Software will be very useful when preparing an assignment and is available free of charge”, says Bogdan Constantinopol, CEO of KT Electronics & Automatics SRL from Romania. “Using it decreases the time invest, and increases your planning certainty”. In addition to this software presentation a selection of other Bosch innovations was on display: ranging from the latest Dual Ray Fire Detector, via the Building Integration System and the flexible Modular Alarm Panel, right up to smartphone apps for Video surveillance solutions.
After the final whistle
“Our first International Consultants Day was a great success,” summarizes Anja Huchthausen, Product Marketing Manager from Bosch Security System, who hosted the event. “The feedback we got from architects, consultants and specifiers was very positive, the location proved to be extraordinary and talking to Jean-Marie Pfaff is probably an once-in-a-lifetime experience – I am confident we will get the opportunity to do something like this again before too long.”
