Birthdays, holidays, holidays ... We record all these days in calendars every year to plan our personal daily lives. But the financial year can also be planned. This can be particularly important for retailers. You can plan special marketing measures based on important holidays, special offer days and other awareness days, but also optimise your product range planning, as demand can be particularly high at certain times. Here is an overview of the phases you should definitely keep an eye on in 2024 - including a free calendar to download:

January

  • 1 January: New Year and start of Veganuary - a month of vegan living
  • 14 January: Orthodox New Year
  • 22 January: Start of Chinese New Year
  • 28 January: European Data Protection Day

January is over and the (sales) year continues to pick up speed. Did you know, for example, that around half of Germans gave a gift for Valentine's Day in 2023? You should keep an eye on these days:

  • 4 February: World Cancer Day
  • 10 February: Chinese New Year
  • 11 February: Super Bowl LVIII
  • 14 February: Valentine's Day

Easter is coming up in March, as well as International Women's Day and St Patrick's Day:

  • 8 March: International Women's Day
  • 11 March: Start of Ramadan
  • 17 March: St Patrick's Day
  • 25 March: Holi
  • 29 March - 1 April: Easter
  • 31 March: International Transgender Visibility Day

In April, the following days could boost your sales promotion:

  • 7 April: World Health Day
  • 9 April: End of Ramadan
  • 22 April: Earth Day

We are slowly approaching the middle of the year and thus two important days, as many countries celebrate Mother's Day and Father's Day in May.

  • 12 May: Mother's Day

  • June: Pride Month
  • 7 June: Start of the European Athletics Championships
  • 14 June: Start of the 2024 European Men's Football Championships

Depending on your target group, the following days could be relevant in July

  • July: Wimbledon Championship in tennis
  • 4 July: Independence Day

August is usually a little quieter, as in many places the focus is on summer, holidays and holidays. However, the following could be relevant in September:

As we all know, the best is saved for last. December is THE shopping season of the year with Advent, but that's not all. Here are the most important days:  

  • 2 December: Cyber Monday
  • 24 December - 26 December: Christmas
  • 31 December: New Year's Eve
