Problems relating to understanding and integration are not confined to human beings; they also exist in the world of electronics. The new xDF software platform from Höft & Wessel fixes interface issues between various software and hardware components.
In this context, DF stands for “Development Framework”, and x as a wildcard for various programming languages such as Java. The objective is to enable customers to benefit from flexible integration of all existing components and, therefore, from free configurability. The xDF system was first deployed in ticket vending machines of the Belgian state railway SNCB and the Polish SKUP project. Generally speaking, the xDF software supplies clearly defined interfaces for connecting hardware like PIN pads or printers. At the same time, it allows devices to be connected to existing back-office systems.
Customers can therefore choose what fits best in individual cases: using xDF, they can integrate the terminals quickly and conveniently into their system environments. In addition to four-lane printers and effective and speedy coin handling, xDF represents a further essential innovation in the continuing development of stationary ticketing terminals from Höft & Wessel.
