VdS CertiSec Pack
A benchmark for security and reliability
For the first time ever worldwide, the loss prevention company VdS GmbH, a company of the German Insurance Association (GDV), has not just certified an individual CCTV product but a complete video surveillance system, the VdS CertiSec Pack.
When you a buy a video surveillance system, how can you tell it is reliable? One’s gut feeling or personal intuition are certainly inappropriate. However, what criteria should one observe? Or do we have to solely rely on the advertising messages of the manufacturers?
The German Insurance Association has already dealt with this issue years ago and set up strict screening conditions reflecting realistic usage loads. The precise load values are standardised so that testing results are comparable, which brings a clear advantage for the customer. They can rest assured that his certified product faultlessly complies with those conditions and is ideally suited for security applications. Furthermore, VdS-certified products are subject to an ongoing product control, which means that the VdS seal of approval represents an independent statement that provides a qualified decision guidance to customers.
The world’s first – and so far only – VdS certificate for a digital video recorder was awarded to Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG in 2002 for its Digital Video Recorder model DMS 180 III. This year the Regensburg based company once again proves that it has lost none of its innovative strength and capability whilst placing utmost emphasis on the security and reliability of a product during the development stage.
In a fresh pioneering achievement, Dallmeier has developed the world's first certified complete system whose every components meet the high VdS requirements. The CertiSec Pack is certified as a category I, class C video surveillance system. Those kinds of systems are especially proper for monitoring high risks, which means that the system has an increased protection against sabotage damage and failure of security-relevant functions, which are also constantly monitored.
The VdS CertiSec Pack consists of the Dallmeier DVR either DMS 180 III or DMS 240 “In Memory of Leonardo”, the vandalism-protected DDF3000AV with Cam_inPIX® technology, a VdS installation kit and a USB computer mouse. This VdS package is completed by a VGA monitor and a 12V power supply, which parts are recommended as equivalent to the other components and are also tested according to DIN EN 50130-4 and DIN EN 50130-5.
The Recorder in the VdS CertiSec Pack offers the following features:
- SEDOR®: The camera failure message, for example in case of a camera failure, voltage loss, or signal loss (faulty cable or severing of the BNC cable) comes by default. Additional SEDOR® functions: The system automatically recognises if a camera is sabotaged (repositioning, spray painting, screening or covering, or defocusing of a camera) and dispenses an alarm either via network, on screen, or acoustically.
- Data protection through RAID I: The recorder has two hard disks of the same size, on both of which the image data are mirrored. Therefore, if one disk fails the data is still available on the second hard disk.
- VdS installation kit: VdS assembly frame for stationary mounting of the recorder. The VdS cover on the back of the recorder is tightly screwed to its housing and protects all cable connections to the recorder against manipulation and sabotage (power supply, contacts, relays, monitors, camera inputs, network, and USB). Tested according to DIN EN 50130-4 (alarm systems, electromagnetic compliance, product line norms) and DIN EN 50130-5 (alarm systems, screening processes for environmental testing).
In addition to the tried and tested platform of the DMS 180 III, the structurally identical real-time recorder model DMS 240 offers innovative H.264 compression and other useful functions that ensure highest reliability and user-friendliness. Among the features: real-time split and real-time recording (H.264) for all channels (at all frame rates).
Optimal protection and highest image quality
The innovative sensor concept of Cam_inPIX® technology is based on the most up-to-date »Digital Pixel System® (DPS)« platform. With this technology, the picture information of each individual pixel is converted digitally at the point of capture and processed in the most optimal way. Therefore, even situations with a great range in contrast can be recorded and documented in picture qualities previously unseen.
With this UWDR technology (Ultra Wide Dynamic Range), the Dallmeier cameras have the advantage over all previously known processes in that they can display considerably more details in shaded and very bright sections of a picture. The latest generation of high-resolution sensor technology also provides clear, high-contrast and colour-true pictures without any blooming or smearing even under the most difficult lighting conditions, e.g. against strong backlighting, in conjunction with the software developed especially for the security field.
Convenient factory settings enable easy, quick and economical installation of the cameras in any surveillance situation combined with extremely user-friendly menu control. With the exclusive Dallmeier UTC protocol (Up The Coax), the DDF3000AV can be controlled directly via the video cable of a Dallmeier digital recorder or a PView Station. The ability to switch between the PAL and NTSC signal formats enables you to use the cameras across the globe in any video surveillance system.
Owing to its vandalism-protected housing (IP 67), the DDF3000AV is also unreservedly deployable in particularly endangered areas.
Integrated components
The VdS CertiSec pack is comprehensive system with perfectly integrated individual components, whose “image-using components” (DVR) are given control (via UTC) over the “image-producing components”. Tested in compliance with the strict requirements of the VdS, the CertiSec Pack is a benchmark for security and reliability.
