Samsung Buys Sharp

Tech giant purchases 3% share

Samsung has purchased 3% of Sharp, giving it privileged access to Sharp's LCD business.

The move strengthens Samsung's position in the manufacturing of digital signage, as well as mobile devices and TVs. The deal, which is reported to have cost approximately 85.5 million Euros, will give Samsung a broader supply base and access to Sharp's thin-screen technology. It should also ensure that Samsung's OLED screen development efforts stay on track.
