New Enhanced Versions of Torex LUCAS-POS and Torex OSCAR-POS for the German Market

Torex Retail Holdings Limited (Torex™), the leading European-based global provider of software and solutions to the extended retail marketplace, will launch the latest versions to its established Point of Service solutions, Torex™ LUCAS-POS and Torex™ OSCAR-POS.

Retailers are under increasing pressure to improve internal efficiencies and improve responsiveness to customer requirements; tasks that demand a modern integrated POS and back office solution. To remain competitive and profitable retailers need to ensure real-time communications between stores and back office functions whilst investing in solutions that address customer relationship management, supplier relationship management and human capital management. Torex LUCAS-POS and Torex OSCAR-POS now go even further to address these needs.

Enhancements to Torex LUCAS-POS
Torex LUCAS-POS is an open standards-based POS solution, providing retailers with a flexible and scalable system to meet their customer service requirements. Running on Java, Torex LUCAS-POS can run on either Windows or Linux machines - this ensures that retailers can benefit from an open, platform-independent solution that is highly configurable and quick to implement. Torex LUCAS-POS is based on the ARTS Data Model and uses open XML based interfaces, allowing it to integrate seamlessly with third party retail management, merchandising and stock solutions.
The new version of Torex LUCAS-POS (Version 2.7.3) includes strengthened international branch management functionality. This includes Taxware support and electronic funds transfer (EFT) interfaces for North America, as well as PCI DSS compliance for secure credit card transactions. In addition, language support has been expanded using virtual keyboards and now covers a comprehensive range from English and French to Thai, including Thai character support. The virtual keyboard is available on touch screens at the POS allowing customer data to be keyed directly into the system. International functionality also includes support for multiple time zones enabling, for example, a US-based retailer to make special offers available across the globe at the correct local time.
In addition, tax receipts can be printed at the POS for a wider range of European countries including Italy, Poland, Russia and the Czech Republic. This international functionality underscores Torex LUCAS-POS as a solution for retail and petroleum businesses that will enable rapid expansion both at home and abroad.

New functionality for Torex OSCAR-POS
Torex OSCAR-POS provides sophisticated Point of Service (POS), administration and management functionality for fast moving retail environments. Torex OSCAR-POS is designed to meet the highest levels of customer service through efficient management of transactions across the whole value chain. Torex OSCAR-POS ensures accurate sales and stock management, as well as giving retailers real-time visibility and control over their business operations.

Torex will also be presenting a new version of Torex OSCAR-POS (formerly Lucas OSM) with additional functionality for the off-licence market. This includes merchandise management with integrated stock-keeping and a complete solution for handling the return of empty bottles at the POS. Furthermore Torex OSCAR-POS allows for several types of commission sales and provides a simple solution for managing the sale of multiple types of cases and boxes of drinks.

The back-office functionality of Torex OSCAR-POS has also been improved to include a new easy to use graphical user interface with simplified navigation. For the hospitality industry Torex OSCAR-POS also supports PDAs for all types of transactions including table service and payments of split bills.
