Heathrow T5, The Best of The Best
Following successful installations at Gatwick North & South, East Midlands and Birmingham International, Litestructures have just completed an innovative design and install project for Best Of The Best in what is surely their most prestigious location yet - Heathrow Terminal 5.
Clearly, the stand design had to be in keeping with the terminal's overall style, with a sophisticated, ultra-modern, high-tech look. Owners BAA also required that the installation should not impede easy passage through the terminal, as this has been hailed as the facility's major passenger benefit. Accordingly, and following BOTB's brief, Litestructures created an installation comprising two stands, one of them equipped with a motorised turntable, the other a static display. Both sections are based on custom LiteDeck modules, and both sport electronically dimmable blue LED downlights which define access points and provide a cool overall look. Both stands feature canopies, their aluminium subframes clad with stretch fabric membrane, internally lit by colour-changing LED's, synchronously for both displays. Each stand has a POS cabinet with integrated power supply. The canopies themselves are held by elliptical structural supports, their 'goalpost' columns being made in the same section as was used to construct the terminal itself.
