Carrier introduces its “e*cube solutions” for sustainable refrigeration, combining energy, efficiency and ecology into smart systems that use energy wisely, where needed, when required. Carrier Corp. is a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

e*cube represents energy savings over the entire life cycle of the refrigeration system, sustained performance in temperature quality and food safety, and significant carbon footprint reduction. e*cube solutions enhance a wide range of Carrier display cases, refrigeration systems and service solutions.

e*cube − energy, efficiency, ecology
An important way to reduce the impact of refrigeration on the environment and operating costs is to minimize the use of energy. As refrigeration systems are one of the largest drivers of energy consumption in food retail stores, operating costs represent a significant part of life cycle costs. Carrier can help reduce refrigeration system operating costs through a three-step-approach:

  1. Design: select the right, innovative display cases and define the optimal refrigeration system with the best energy efficiency for the store.

  2. Deliver: manage the complete project from layout definition to commissioning and precise parameter setting, leveraging Carrier’s experience in turnkey installations across Europe. Carrier will ensure that the system operates as intended.

  3. Sustain: Carrier professional after-sales, maintenance, service and remote monitoring solutions enable food retail operators to keep their refrigeration systems operating at their best possible level over the life of the equipment.

Carrier selected multi-decks, islands and combination cases with good energy performance from the successful "Evolution 5" range and enhanced them with specially designed components. The result is a greater reduction in energy consumption and environmental impact, for a more efficient sizing of the refrigeration system right from the start. Optimized energy-saving packages are based on improved fans, ballasts, glass lids and doors, anti-condensation glass or sequential air curtains. In addition, models with extra features, such as LED lighting and night blinds are available.

Beginning with customer requirements, Carrier gathers parameters and components best suited to the optimal operation of the whole refrigeration system. Using climate databases and decades of field experience, the individual annual energy consumption is then simulated. Using Carrier’s exclusive new software "e*cube AnalyzerTM,” system engineers designed a tailored, environmentally sound solution. To sustain the performance of the system over time, Carrier provides a wide service offering with periodic maintenance, operational optimization and added-value e*services leveraging remote monitoring capabilities across Europe.

In addition to the selected cabinets and refrigeration systems on display at EuroShop, multi-media presentations and interactive high-tech interfaces show how components come together, proving the adage that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
