The leading department store in Noordwijk is the latest retailer to benefit from the innovative electronic pricing solution from MariElla Labels Oy. EllaFashion digital price tags – which provide fashion retailers with key online advantages in physical stores – have been installed in a pilot project the leading department store in Noordwijk.

A total of 4000 of the EllaFashion digital price tags have been attached to items throughout the store’s ladies and men’s fashion sections to create an integrated omnichannel retail environment. This installation delivers the retailer a unified strategy to drive sales, enhance profits and improve margins of the fashion items which are all developed by the department store itself. With this solution, the Noordwijk store is able to take advantage of dynamic pricing, and can immediately initiate seasonal pricing, happy hour and flash sales both in-store and online.

The Noordwijk store owner – Mr Evert de Boer – is one of many Franchise-Partners in the Netherlands and identifies the alignment between the qualities of EllaFashion’s solution and his retail philosophy. “These digital price tags are a revolutionary retail solution that we can easily integrate into our operations.”

Digital price tags on e-paper technology

The digital price tag solution enables instant pricing, automatic updates and real-time inventory. This allows retailers to free up stock space and – in a high volume, fast turnover environment in the stores – allows for the tracking of items which are selling rapidly in order to replenish them more efficiently. In addition to improvements in anti-theft security, these features enable retailers to achieve new levels of customer service which reflect our passion to make their customers daily life easier.

This new digital price tag is attached to fashion products in the same manner as a standard paper label. The information is displayed electronically to the highest quality thanks to the e-paper technology. The product prices can be updated automatically with the simple click of a button. This capability always ensures that prices are matched across all platforms.

Positive feedback for pilot project

The installation of the digital price tags has been smooth, as Joost van der Hulst – the Store Manager in Noordwijk – testifies: “Implementation of the EllaFashion solution in our store has been a straightforward process. The system is easy to use and staff have only needed minimal training. Employees no longer have to spend their time manually changing price labels, and can instead concentrate on enhancing our overall customer experience.”

The pilot is due to last between 6 to 12 months, and the early signs are good according to Joost van der Hulst: “It is an exciting prospect for us… so far the feedback from our customers has been excellent and the labels look attractive and effectively support the brands of the department stores.”

The EllaFashion solution provides an innovative pricing flexibility that was beyond the traditional paper labelling previously in use in the Noordwijk store. This saves the store time and allows for more efficient staff allocation, while enhancing the shopping experience for their customers.
