County of San Diego approves ServSafe Food Handler online training course

The ServSafe Food Handler online training course is now an approved form of food handler training in the County of San Diego. The training program helps restaurant operators and employees earn their San Diego Food Handler card, covering key areas in food safety information and techniques. All food handlers in the County of San Diego are required to have a food handler’s card.

“As the leader in food safety training throughout the United States, we are glad to see our ServSafe Food Handler online course approved in the County of San Diego,” said Sherman Brown, senior vice president of business and financial strategy for the National Restaurant Association’s ServSafe Food Safety Business. “ServSafe training solutions help restaurant operators and employees meet and exceed food safety regulations and standards, ensuring the 130 million meals served daily by our industry are safe for guests to enjoy.”

The ServSafe Food Handler online training course provides critical information and delivers food safety training to employees in five key areas including basic food safety, personal hygiene, cross-contamination and allergens, time and temperature and cleaning and sanitation.

The ServSafe Food Handler online training is approved by the Department of Environmental Health and meets the standards of the American National Standards Institute. After the training is completed and the assessment is passed, a San Diego Food Handler card will be issued electronically and remain valid for three years.
