CONRAC at Integrated Systems 2009
Integrated Sytems Europe 2009, 03.–05.02.09, Stand no. 11 G 82
CONRAC GmbH, founded in 1956, is one of the leading manufacturers of displays for public information. Ever since the 1960s, CONRAC is active in the public information business. Especially in the airport sector CONRAC is a very well recognized name. Installations in more than 200 airports clearly demonstrate the company’s expertise in the system business. Complementing the range of “Public Displays“ for indoor as well as outdoor applications are displays for digital advertising and for special industrial applications such as medical imaging, radar and navigation.
At Integrated Systems 2009 CONRAC will be showcasing the following new products:
Narrow Bezel Displays – ideal for cluster solutions
The latest generation of flat screens for digital signage is mainly characterised by the almost frameless design. A bezel width of less than 15mm, the high resolution and excellent image quality makes the Narrow Bezel series the ideal displays for cluster solutions. An application long waited for can now be realised: videowalls using large flatscreens with near to no disturbing frame in between. Conrac’s video electronics supports cluster solutions of up to 4 by 4 displays without the need for additional hardware. Using 47“ displays, this results in a size of 4,30m x 2,48m. The integrated „Master Display“ function allows to control all other displays simultaneously via a RS232 port. Predefined cluster configurations can be selected in the On-Screen-Menu. The Narrow Bezel series is available in various screen sizes, the smallest being 42 inch diagonal. Special „High Brightness“ panels for applications involving direct sunlight as well as integrated IPCs (Industrial PCs) or Controller Boards can be supplied. At the ISE show, different cluster solutions will be presented.
Public Displays
The trend of the market clearly goes to even larger screen sizes, creating a further challenge for the manufacturers: Larger display panels develop a lot more heat than smaller ones requiring a great deal of cooling. CONRAC introduces a brand-new Public Display series with a highly innovative cooling concept lowering the temperature and enhancing the display lifetime. The intelligent system works in two cycles, an open loop and a closed loop. Despite the Public Displays' laminated safety glass panel, it cools the TFT panel from front and back. Furthermore, a special sealing method avoids dust accumulation inside the display. The cooling system is very energy efficient and maintenance-free, hence reducing the cost of ownership. On display at ISE is a 65” Display.
Interactive Public Displays
Not an entirely new idea, but realised using a new technology, are touch solutions for public areas. Most touch screens available so far are very sensitive to dirt and moisture, very easily damaged and require a great deal of maintenance. Now Conrac introduces a touch solution which is perfectly suited for use in public environment. Using a laminated safety glass panel, the displays are vandalism-proof. Moisture or dust on the glass panel does not cause any problem. All electronics is integrated in the display housing, IP protection for outdoor applications is easily possible.
The touch panel can be operated with anything: With a finger, even when wearing gloves, with a pen or any other object. A further definitive advantage is that unlike most touch screens, the touch panel has no negative effect whatsoever on the image quality. Keeping the consequential costs down, the touch system is absolutely maintenance-free. A periodical calibration as required for most touch systems is not necessary. To be tested at our booth is a 40” outdoor display (IP54) with “acoustic touch”.
