Ahold appoints Ben Wishart as group CIO
Dutch retail group Ahold has appointed Morrisons' Ben Wishart to group chief information officer
Taking up his new role on 17 June, Wishart will report to chief finance officer Jeff Carr and will be based at Ahold's corporate centre in the Netherlands.
Wishart joins Ahold from UK supermarket Morrisons where he was chief information officer. Prior to that he was chief information officer at hospitality business Whitbread and has also worked at Tesco in various senior information management roles.
Commenting on the appointment, Carr said: "Technology is an increasingly critical element in ensuring the success of our Reshaping Retail strategy. I am pleased that Ben joins us to lead the next stage of Ahold's journey as we are responding to a changing retail world, leveraging our scale and coordinating technology.
"Ben has significant retail experience and brings a strong combination of strategic leadership, businesstransformation, team-building capabilities and technology leadership skills to this new role."
