A cloudless future in the cloud
Epson TM intelligent solutions create new opportunities for retailers
Shopping is increasingly regarded as an experience and customers strongly judge this experience by the service offered at the POS. That is why retailers have to utilise every opportunity to succeed against and set themselves apart from the competition. Integrating new cloud-based POS solutions provides the perfect opportunity.
Thanks to secure, protected data connections they offer ground-breaking options such as guided services or 'bring-your-own-device' applications without disrupting the sales process. These overcome the existing restrictions of conventional ECR cash registers with regard to reporting, integrating loyalty systems, e-receipt services and CRM. In addition, the consistent use of cloud services also increases transparency and reduces costs as small, uncomplicated thin-client systems can be used primarily instead of complicated cash register systems.
Epson ePOS as the foundation for cloud-based POS solutions
The Epson ePOS technology enables the creation of high-quality receipts, tickets, coupons and labels via XML directly from every common web browser – without any drivers or additional apps. This reduces the work involved in implementation and maintenance. Mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet PCs can also be easily integrated via wireless LAN and where necessary temporary checkouts can be set up in just a matter of moments. Epson ePOS systems can also control additional common peripherals such as cash drawers, barcode scanners, displays and payment terminals (EFTs) without any additional effort.
Andreas Unterbusch, Manager System Devices at Epson Deutschland GmbH, explains: "Today's customers take for granted the use of mobile devices such as smartphones or Tablet PCs. From there it is only a small step to using wireless devices at the POS. Epson's solutions in this area, such as the TM-T88V-DT series, have been developed for precisely these applications and combine the functions of a printer, a web server and a peripheral controller in one compact device. The colour label printers are also designed for retail businesses and offer a flexible solution when printing shelf labels, for example. This reduces the number of devices required at the POS and helps retail businesses to offer customers forward-looking service. Furthermore, they also reduce the costs for electricity, maintenance and service."
