Computop and MagTek powering secure global payments at the PoS
Client PAPAGENA delivers the companies’ joint solution to cruise ships worldwide
Computop, a payment service provider (PSP), and MagTek, expert in retail electronic payments security technology, announced that PAPAGENA Projects GmbH is leveraging MagTek’s Point-of-Sale (PoS) terminals combined with Computop’s Paygate payment processing platform as part of its PayCruise offering. PAPAGENA focuses on specialized solutions and innovations in e-commerce, e-banking and e-payment.
PayCruise is an integrated payment solution for the cruise industry that can be easily integrated into a company’s existing infrastructure and used worldwide without special installation costs or later updates on-board ship.
“The global cruise industry is one that is constantly expanding and innovating to hold its own in a highly competitive travel market,” explained Björn Schlesselmann, managing director at PAPAGENA Projects GmbH.
“For that reason, it’s imperative that we’re able to offer companies in this space an integrated payment solution that they can completely trust, guaranteeing the necessary security for their payment processes and increasing their effectiveness. Leveraging the joint solution from Computop and MagTek underpins this for us and is an integral part of our offering.”
Computop and MagTek announced their collaboration in 2012 to enable merchants to offer MagTek’s PoS products with Computop’s Paygate functionality. With Computop Paygate P2PE-ready, businesses around the world are well positioned to ensure their customers’ card transactions are protected, as only the P2PE standard allows secure payment processing through insecure networks. By integrating the joint offering from Computop and MagTek, PAPAGENA is providing a secure, simple, global PoS payment solution to its cruise ship clients.
Ralf Gladis, CEO of Computop, said, “Together, Computop and MagTek are enabling businesses like PAPAGENA to provide support for domestic and international card payments and reduce the hassle of PCI DSS compliance for their clients, as no actual card data is received during a transaction through our joint P2PE-ready solution. This ensures a much safer transaction on all ends.”
“We are excited to see the fruits of our collaboration further extending into the travel industry through PAPAGENA’s use of the MagTek and Computop solution,” said Steve Poulston, managing director at MagTek. “Protecting sensitive card data at the earliest point, and all the way through the transaction, is key to our success and made possible by our proven MagneSafe Security Architecture.”
