Banks are increasingly networking their offerings in the branch, Internet, mobile banking and self service delivery channels so that customers can continue transactions they have begun in one channel in a different channel. Wincor Nixdorf supports banks worldwide in cross-channel integration and will showcase further developments of its solution portfolio for using smartphones at Wincor World (October 16 to 18 at the A2 Forum in Rheda-Wiedenbrück).

Smartphones are a constant companion of more and more consumers and offer a growing number of functions for handling financial transactions. The market research firm Gartner expects that transactions involving a volume of 600 billion US dollars will be handled worldwide using mobile devices in 2016. Consequently, Wincor Nixdorf is presenting new smartphone applications in conjunction with the self service delivery channel.

Mobile banking enhanced with new application

Using your smartphone to find the nearest automated teller machine while you’re out and about or to prepare transfers or cash withdrawals, including the option of choosing the denomination of notes – the PC/E Mobile Cash application makes all that possible, thus significantly reducing the time you have to wait at the ATM.

Choosing the way of authentication

Bank customers can decide for themselves how they want to authenticate themselves at the ATM: Either with their bank card and PIN or without a bank card using two independent codes. The first code is freely selected by the user and a second is generated by the mobile cash server for each individual transaction.

NFC tranforms usage of ATMs

Sooner or later, QR code based technologies and near field communication (NFC) technology will be available as a further alternative and revolutionize authentication and operation at the ATM. As soon as international standards for NFC on ATMs have been established, a corresponding component will be added immediately to the solution. An implementation variant with NFC and a smartphone will be presented at Wincor World 2012.

In-house exhibition shows new appliances

PC/E Mobile Cash will also offer other business transactions, such as payment of a bill by cash or dispensing cash to a third party. Visitors to Wincor World will be able to test all these functions directly at the trade fair using their own smartphone.

Integration into existing bank networks

Banks can integrate the solution in their existing self-service network easily and thus provide customers with a new service quickly and reliably. Wincor Nixdorf makes the apps required for the operating systems Android and iOS available to consumers to download from the relevant app stores.
