Every four years, the Trade Fair Center in Düsseldorf is transformed into the largest printing plant in the world: drupa (3rd to 16th May 2012) is the world’s most important and biggest trade fair for the print and media industry, at which the exhibitors can present their trend-setting sector technology and range of services. As the largest exhibitor at drupa, the company Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) designed their 6,300 m² booth as a place for encounter communication and relied for the fifth time now on ICT Innovative Communication Technologies AG (Kohlberg), as media technology supplier, for the media implementation of their booth concept.
The world’s market leader Heidelberg integrated large format LED and Seamless Display surfaces in the booth concept, which was managed by the agency KMS TEAM GmbH (Munich) for design and implementation, to media-stage around 60 innovations in line with the trade fair motto „Discover HEI“. Two high resolution LED Walls (model: Mitsubishi Electric AVL-IDT6), reflecting with a gentle central internal angle the contour of the brand wall in the area of both stages, provided the central staging in the trade fair hall. Each stage was in this way equipped with an almost 25 m² display surface for supporting the presenters with image information. ICT programmed a Watchout application for each content feed in order to prepare the source mix in both On-Show and Off-Show mode. In the audience area, ICT equipped a director’s desk to control the show sequences. Additionally, the ICT-Team executed the mechanical assembly of the steel scaffolding for the LED Wall to blend in with the brand wall. A further large image display in the shape of a book was achieved with 18 Seamless LCDs (model: NEC MultiSync X462UN) which displayed their contents via two synchronized PC feeds. ICT also supplied the specially produced steel frame which supported the vertically mounted screens and once again reflected the contour of the brand wall. A total of 30 medium-sized LCDs (model: ICT LCD 24" UniversAL HD) decorated the wood paneled wall of a separate dealer area like picture frames: On entering this area, portrait photos of the customers were taken with iPads, transferred to a server and transmitted via a network to the individual LCDs. A 65“ LCD for product training as well as projectors for meeting rooms rounded off the multi-media equipment for the long-standing ICT customer, Heidelberg.
ICT were also responsible for the multi-media equipment at the KBA trade fair booth: Commissioned by the Leipzig company IWG Video- & Medienproduktion GmbH, the ICT-Team installed more than 20 Seamless LCDs variously stacked as well as conventional displays at the Koenig & Bauer AG (KBA) booth. Several special constructions, each with 2 x 2 Seamless Screens (model: Eyevis EYE-LCD6000-SN) were suspended, for example, from a rig in the lounge area, or mounted on self-supporting constructions in the printing machine area. A smartPerform-Application, running on Tablet-PCs, was used to control the presented shows: The presenters were able to call up interactive information on the presented printing machine via their Tablet-PCs, which was then visualized on the large image screen for the spectators. A smartPerform-Application was available on other Tablet-PCs for individual customer discussions. The contents produced on the Tablet-PC during the discussion could be transmitted intuitively with the software integrated „Flying Picture“ function via wireless data transmission to other smartPerform-Systems.
Commissioned by conform GmbH (Halle/Westphalia), ICT equipped Inometa GmbH & Co. KG (Herford) with display and multi-touch technologies: Two 5.2 meter high bands of Seamless Displays (model: ICT Seamless Flatscreen OPM-4250R) flanking both sides of the booth were a media eye-catcher. The Seamless Bands, each consisting of ten screens mounted one above the other, drew attention to the Inometa booth with their dynamic contents. Booth visitors were able to interactively obtain information about the extensive Inometa product portfolio on a Multi-touch-Table, on which the ICT-Team had integrated a 46“ Multi-touch screen with a smartPerform-Application.
