NETGEAR, provider of networking equipment for home and small businesses, is honored to have won a Red Dot Award for its design for the AirCard® 815S mobile hotspot (AC815S). The AirCard 815S is the first rugged mobile WiFi hotspot available for AT&T service and is available in the U.S. under the brand name of AT&T Unite Explore.

Since 1955, the Red Dot Award has been seen throughout the world and across different industries as the premiere award for high design quality. An international Red Dot jury bestows the sought-after seal of quality only to those products that stand out clearly from comparable entries thanks to their excellent design. This year, a record 5,200 entries from 57 nations competed for the Red Dot: Product Design designation, which culminates in the Red Dot Gala in Essen, Germany, on July 4, 2016. The winning products are presented in the special exhibition “Design on Stage” before being included in exhibitions in the Red Dot Design Museums in Essen, Singapore and Taipei.

“As NETGEAR celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, we are honored to have our emphasis on design recognized again in such a prestigious competition,” said James Hathway, senior industrial designer for NETGEAR. “The aesthetic quality of NETGEAR products has been an important component of product development since our early days, so we’re thrilled that the Red Dot jury has applauded the unique aspects of the rugged AT&T Unite Explore.”

The rugged AT&T Unite Explore is dustproof and water- and shock-resistant, so it’s able to handle the bumps of everyday life. Even if you’re in wet or dusty conditions, the Unite Explore can withstand drops, spills and sand. The Unite Explore’s advanced parental controls enable the user to block websites depending on the content. The Unite Explore also has Guest WiFi with an optional timer that will automatically disconnect users after a predetermined amount of time. With just a click, you can share your 4G LTE connection with up to 15 laptops, tablets, smartphones, digital cameras, gaming consoles and other WiFi enabled devices. This hotspot also offers international roaming compatibility on 4G LTE where it is available. Just toss it into your backpack, briefcase or the back seat.
