Bizerba reports record sales and 19 percent growth
Fiscal year 2015 a full success
Bizerba recorded sales of 598.6 million euros and 19 percent growth in its fiscal year 2015 as a result of sales increases in all regions worldwide. Main growth drivers included the strong demand for Bizerba’s weighing, slicing and labeling solutions as well as focused acquisitions and the company’s increased commitment in global growth markets.
In 2015, Bizerba expanded its U.S. subsidiary and strengthened its position in South-East Asia by opening a new location in Singapore. Furthermore, the company expanded its food-safety portfolio with the acquisition of Luceo, an inspection specialist based in France. The acquisition of Helf in Austria resulted in a boost for Bizerba’s strongly growing label business.
Bizerba recorded its highest growth in the NAFTA region, where sales increased by 32 percent to 128.7 million euros, supported by positive exchange-rate effects. Additional growth drivers included the Asia-Pacific region (+31 percent), Eastern Europe (+27 percent), and Ibero-America (+23 percent). Germany, Austria and Switzerland (+14 percent in the DACH region) still represent Bizerba’s largest market.
“After crossing the 500-million-euro mark in 2014, we now managed to increase our sales by another 100 million euros”, said Andreas Wilhelm Kraut, managing partner and CEO of Bizerba. “A growth rate of 19 percent clearly indicates that our solution portfolio provides the right answers to our customers’ requirements.”
Bizerba managed to continue the dynamic growth it experienced in the past years. Since 2011, the company recorded an average annual sales increase of 8 percent. Against this backdrop, the Kraut family, who owns the company, made an announcement in early 2016 that the company is now 100 percent family-owned again after about 20 years. The buyback of all external company shares coincides with the company’s 150-year anniversary this year.
“While we have close ties to Balingen and Germany since five generations, we are also successfully setting worldwide standards with our technology”, Kraut commented. “2016 is dominated by our company anniversary, which we will celebrate with our customers and partners in May at the occasion of the IFFA, the leading international trade fair for meat processing. In addition, we will say thank you to our employees with a large celebration this summer at our Balingen headquarters.”
Founded in 1866, the group of companies became the largest German scale manufacturer in the 1920s. Since then, the portfolio was continuously expanded. It now includes retail scales, slicers, industrial solutions, software, labels and services. Bizerba has approximately 3,700 employees worldwide.
