Wincor Nixdorf is primary supplier of reverse vending systems for NETTO stores
Wincor Nixdorf has won a large order from NETTO Marken-Discount, a subsidiary of EDEKA Handelsgesellschaft that is headquartered in Ponholz near Regensburg, to equip NETTO’s stores with 1,500 reverse vending machines. This makes Wincor Nixdorf NETTO’s primary supplier of reverse vending. NETTO also contracted for the provision of services for a period of two years. As a result, Wincor Nixdorf has been able to chalk up another order in the growth segment of reverse vending machines, and strengthen its position as a vendor of self-service and automation solutions for retail chains. The rollout has already begun and should be finished by the end of 2010.
“With this contract, the majority of the volume of reverse vending that has been tendered in Germany in recent months has gone to Wincor Nixdorf. This represent a positive development of the business in line with our expectations," said Dr. Herbert Machill, who is responsible at Wincor Nixdorf for business with retailers worldwide.NETTO has ordered the Revendo 9000 system, which is suitable for all types of empties and will be used for the return of bottles and beverage crates. In addition, this Revendo system meets NETTO’s specific requirements owing to its flexible and customizable background technology. Rigorous use of standard technology makes service work easier and also ensures high availability.
NETTO Marken-Discount AG & Co. KG is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Edeka Handelsgesellschaft. NETTO operates solely in Germany and, following its merger with PLUS Warenhandelsgesellschaft mbH, has a network of around 3,800 stores, more than 50,000 employees and generates total sales of some 10 billion euros.
