New Generation of Scales bC is Stronger, Quicker, with a Better Design

World Bestseller has a Successor

New Generation of Scales bC
New Generation of Scales bC

The next generation of the world’s best-selling scales, the LP / Mira series from Mettler-Toledo, with the type designation bC, performs even better in each category. However one trademark remains: the bC scales’ colour scheme can also be matched to the respective company colours.

No other shop scales have been sold all over the world as much as the LP / Mira series from Mettler-Toledo. The advantages of these new scales can be split into four areas: 1. Performance and speed. 2. Extensive networking options 3. Long lifetime and upgradeability 4. Ergonomics and design.

Performance and speed.
The advanced bC scales technology offers an even wider range of options through its increased performance. The fast 66 MHz processor and a program memory which is already prepared for future applications guarantee that the scales are particularly fast and that data communication is quick. An important feature is the sales slip or label printer: The printing speed of 125 mm per second is 50% quicker than the previous model – this saves time and money.

Extensive networking options.
The bC scales can be linked in a network with up to 64 other scales and can also be integrated into an existing network. This networking is made possible either via various interfaces or within a wireless network The unique Mettler-Toledo philosophy “connectivity” has also been incorporated in the bC range of scales. The brand name bC stands worldwide for “best Connectivity” and can only be improved on by the high-end UC scales (“Unlimited Connectivity”). Connectivity means open scales technology which can network freely with the hardware and software from other manufacturers too. The variability of the bC range includes options like sales slip or label printing and price display functions, along with various cash-register functions such as connecting to barcode scanners.

Long lifetime and upgradeability.
The bC range is a safe and future-oriented investment. It offers all the important options for the future at up to half the price of high-end scales: The connectivity with further hardware and the software upgradeability allow these scales to be upgraded as time goes by. This flexibility ensures an economic benefit from the investments made. The bC is also available for use as self-service scales, hanging scales or as combined scales and cash register.

Ergonomics and design.
The shop scales of the future must be configured so that they can be flawlessly operated after the shortest possible training. The scales’ functions should be logically structured and self-explanatory. Working on and with the scales must not be tiring. And part of the user-friendliness is that they are easy to clean. To fulfil all these requirements, the screen, keypad and casing have all been completely newly developed. The wider screen on the scales, with a resolution of 240 x 240, provides a crystal-clear picture and can also show graphic advertising designs on the customer side. In the keypad design, with its 99 keys, a lot of experience from development work on computer keypads was used: input of PLU numbers, prices or other data is faster on the one hand and at the same time causes less stress. What was good in the past has been kept in the bC: the removable keypad, tried and tested over 20 years, is also a plus for the bC making it easy to clean and with the exchangeable keypad membrane it saves costs.

The new generation of scales comes onto the market with a futuristic design but the world bestseller LP trademark design remains: the individual parts are available in various different colours as well as the standard grey. The colour design can then be matched individually to the fittings in the shop and to the corporate design.
From the time of its initial market launch, the bC scales range is available in all its versions required by the grocery trade: 1. the tower scales which have the keypad at the front on the weighing platform. 2. as an alternative to this, the keypad can be positioned on the tower as with the UC scales. 3. the bC in the compact space-saving version with a low-lying weighing platform.
