Datalogic, a global leader in Automatic Data Capture and Industrial Automation markets, and world-class producer of bar code readers, mobile computers, sensors, vision systems and laser marking equipment is proud to announce the addition of the Cobalto CO5300 omnidirectional high performance laser scanner to their portfolio of presentation scanners.

The Cobalto scanner is enclosed in stylish, compact and ergonomic housing. The scanner’s reading window is encircled by a striking blue ‘Ring of Light,’ which turns green to visually confirm a good read. Additionally, a high quality polyphonic speaker can be configured to provide a ‘jingle’ or specific sound providing audio confirmation for a good read of a bar code.

An ergonomic top ‘SCAN’ capacitive button activates the single line which, combined with rubber side grips, and a 30° adjustable scan head, allows the scanner to be comfortably used as a handheld reader for scanning larger or bulky items.

“We are keeping our customer’s needs in the forefront of our minds, focusing on providing the best possible scanning solutions for the differing vertical markets," states Bill Parnell, CEO and President of Datalogic ADC. “The design and development of the Cobalto scanner is the result of combining an attractive design with high performance technology. We are confident our customers will experience excellent value from this top performing, stylish, full-featured scanner.”

The new Colbato scanner offers a superior 1D scanning performance with an omnidirectional reading pattern of 20 lines and 1,500 scans per second. This is the market’s fastest 1D decoding rate and motion tolerance, making the Cobalto scanner the best choice for improving data collection productivity while supplying the best ROI. Omnidirectional scanning frees the operator to present the bar code in any orientation, increasing the efficiency of scans at the point of sale.

Other key product features include an impressive depth of field from close contact to 27.5 cm / 10.8 inches distance on most common bar codes used in retail. The Cobalto robustness is enhanced by the inclusion of state-of-the-art mechanical and electronic components. Investment Protection is insured by a 3-year standard factory warranty and the ability to withstand multiple drops to concrete from 1.2 m/ 4.0 ft. All popular host terminals are supported out-of-box through a unique scan-to-configure feature. By scanning a programming label and attaching the appropriate cable the Cobalto is automatically configured for its attached host. A Checkpoint® Systems EAS compatible model is also available.

This scanner is the ideal solution for checkout counters in convenience stores, specialty or apparel stores, as well as office automation applications such as manual scanning of documents, envelopes and small packages for courier applications.
