Posiflex Technology, Inc., a leading global brand in the design and manufacture of POS solutions and peripherals, announced that the management of the municipal leisure center of in Xanten/Germany, has installed Posiflex XT-3815 POS terminals for use in the big beer tent of its highly popular annual "Oktoberfest Xanten". The installation was carried out by system house kasseundpapier.de, and the 16 terminals were supplied by Posiflex distributor QUAD GmbH.

'Freizeitzentrum Xanten' (FZX) was established in 1974 with the intention to offer a recreational area to the residents of the region and on a supra-regional basis, with the emphasis on sports and entertainment facilities, at the same time strengthening the location's touristic standing. The absolute highlight every year is the 'Oktoberfest Xanten', celebrated in 2015 for the 17th time.

Initially starting out with a few hundred visitors in a small tent, 'Oktoberfest Xanten' has now become a major supra-regional attraction. From the very beginning, this event has aimed at being as close to the concept of the original Munich event as possible, and therefore was nicknamed "The Original on the Lower Rhine”. Continuously growing since, the attraction now pulls 60.000 visitors on four weekends. On Fridays and Saturdays, the tent holding 4.500 guests is fully booked.

In 2012, organizer FZX commissioned kasseundpapier.de, a system house specializing in POS solutions based in Cologne/Germany, to supervise and maintain all gastronomy venues throughout its territories. The POS specialist first equipped all locations with ADDIPOS, a very flexible hospitality POS software which is scalable for possible future expansions. Since 2014, the scope of its services also includes the 'Oktoberfest Xanten'.

Selecting POS Hardware from Posiflex

Preferred cash systems for festive environments of any kind need to be powerful, highly splash- and dust-proof and if possible fanless. The always busy, sometimes stressed tent staff should experience the billing process positive and smooth. Costs are to be kept as low as possible.

So, in terms of POS hardware to be used in the big beer tent of 'Oktoberfest Xanten', responsible installing system house kasseundpapier.de decided in favour of one product from multi-awarded hardware designer and manufacturer Posiflex, XT-3815, in cooperation with and provided by Posiflex' exclusive distributor in Germany, QUAD GmbH.

The POS Terminal POSIFLEX XT-3815

XT-3815 is a quad core, fanless and fully adjustable POS terminal with a 15” true flat PCT screen (newest model XT-3817: 17” screen) and 1024 x 768 resolution. The powerful Intel Bay Trail quad core processor running up to 2.42 GHz enables quick transactions and minimal queuing time. The system memory holds up to 8GB RAM. The projected capacitive touch screen supports a multi-touch function of up to 10 points and the front panel is IP65 rated, making it splash proof and completely protected against dust ingress. Its fanless design allows effective operation in harsh environments without having to worry about fan maintenance. It also means that the terminal runs quietly, making it suitable for even the most high-end hospitality applications. XT-3815 and XT-3817 come with the option of two foldable, fully adjustable bases: the slim GEN7E base and the larger GEN8E base which has a built-in power unit and PoweredUSB ports. Both bases enable users to adjust the screen to a height and angle of their choice, providing unparalleled flexibility. The XT-series is Posiflex’s best-selling POS range in Europe.

XT-3815 – a success from the very beginning

Thanks to the extraordinary efficiency and capability of the touch terminal POSIFLEX XT-3815, the installation was a success right from the start and proved the decision for this product right in planning, supervision and execution. Posiflex' outstanding POS hardware solution, combined with the support and service provided by distributor QUAD GmbH, contributed to realize a highly successful transformative project with manifold demands from all parties involved, making the 'Oktoberfest Xanten' in 2015 another go and this year's event in October 2016 more than likely to turn out a big success, too.
